Flappy Friend Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Flappy Friend, developed by Ceurapelab Effective date: August 11, 2026 · Last updated: August 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Ceurapelab ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Flappy Friend mobile game (the "App"). We built Flappy Friend to work almost entirely on your device. This policy describes what limited data is involved, why, and what choices you have.

In short: Flappy Friend does not have user accounts, does not require a profile, and does not send your photos or gameplay recordings to us or to any server we control. The App shows ads through Google AdMob, which is the main way data leaves your device — details below.

1. Information the App Uses

1.1 Photo you choose for your bird avatar

If you tap "Choose Bird Photo," the App opens your device's built-in system Photo Picker. This picker is provided by Android itself, not by us — we never receive a list of your photos, and we cannot access any photo other than the single one you actively select.

Once you pick a photo:

  • The photo is processed entirely on your device using Google's ML Kit Face Detection library to locate a face and crop it into a circular avatar.
  • The photo and the derived avatar are never uploaded to us, to Google, or to any other third party as part of this process.
  • The cropped avatar is kept only in the App's memory/cache for your current session and is replaced or cleared when you pick a new photo, close the App, or clear the App's cache.

1.2 Gameplay recordings you choose to share

While you play, the App generates a short local video replay of your run (bird, pipes, score, and a small watermark), together with the sound effects, entirely on your device. This video is saved temporarily in the App's private cache storage.

  • The video is not uploaded anywhere by the App itself.
  • It is only shared if you actively tap "Share Replay" and choose a destination (e.g. a messaging or social media app) from your device's share sheet. At that point, the file is handed to the app you selected, and that app's own privacy policy and terms apply to what happens next.
  • If you never tap "Share Replay," the video stays local to your device and is deleted over time as part of normal cache cleanup, or when the App is uninstalled.

1.3 Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App displays banner ads served by Google AdMob. To do this, AdMob (and the underlying Google Mobile Ads SDK) may collect and process information such as:

  • Device and advertising identifiers (e.g. your Android Advertising ID)
  • General device information (device model, OS version, language, screen size)
  • Approximate location derived from your IP address
  • Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, viewability)

This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us directly, and is used to serve and measure ads and to help prevent fraud and abuse. Learn more / manage ad personalization:

1.4 Information we do not collect

  • We do not require or ask for your name, email address, or phone number.
  • We do not have user accounts, logins, or profiles.
  • We do not collect precise (GPS) location.
  • We do not operate our own backend servers that store your photos, videos, or gameplay data.
  • We do not sell personal information.

2. Permissions the App Uses

Permission / mechanismWhy it's needed
Internet, Access Network StateRequired so Google AdMob can request and display ads.
Photo Picker (no runtime permission)Lets you select one photo for your bird avatar without granting the App broad access to your photo library.

3. Third-Party Services

ServicePurposeData leaves your device?
Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDKDisplays banner adsYes — device/advertising identifiers and ad interaction data, per Google's policies
Google ML Kit (Face Detection)Finds a face in your chosen photo to crop the bird avatarNo — runs on-device

We do not control how these third parties process data once it reaches them. We encourage you to review Google's privacy policy linked above.

4. Children's Privacy

Flappy Friend is a casual game that may appeal to children. If this App is directed at children, or if its audience includes a mixed audience of children and adults, the developer is responsible for:

  • Correctly setting the App's target audience and content rating in Google Play Console.
  • Configuring the Google Mobile Ads SDK for child-directed treatment where applicable (e.g.tagForChildDirectedTreatment / tagForUnderAgeOfConsent), per AdMob's guidance.
  • Complying with applicable children's privacy laws (e.g. COPPA in the United States, or equivalent laws in your region), which may restrict or prohibit personalized advertising and certain data collection from children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children beyond what is described in Section 1 (which, as noted, is processed on-device and not sent to us).

5. Data Retention

Because the App does not operate its own servers for photos, videos, or gameplay data, there is no server-side retention by us. Locally:

  • Chosen bird photos/avatars persist only for your current session in memory, and any cached copies are removed when the App's cache is cleared or the App is uninstalled.
  • Recorded gameplay videos are stored in the App's private cache folder and are subject to the same cleanup — normal Android cache management, manual clearing via Settings → Apps → Flappy Friend → Storage, or uninstalling the App.

6. Your Choices

  • Avatar photo: You choose whether to select a photo at all — the App works with a default bird if you skip this.
  • Sharing: Gameplay videos are only shared when you explicitly tap "Share Replay" and pick a destination app.
  • Ad personalization: You can manage ad personalization for your device through your device's ad settings and via Google Ads Settings.
  • Clearing data: You can clear all locally cached App data at any time via your device's App info screen, or by uninstalling the App.

7. Data Security

Because photos and recordings are processed and stored locally rather than transmitted to us, the main security consideration is the security of your own device. We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date and using a device lock screen.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new App features or changes in law. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. If changes are significant, we will make reasonable efforts to bring them to your attention (for example, via an in-app notice or an updated Play Store listing).
